From high school to college studies, I am also specialized in preparing specific subjects such as Honors and AP programs, and students and adults who wish to pursue a career in the medical field (MCAT, DAT, Nursing, PA, Physical Therapy, etc.).

I am a professional tutor with the highest degree of education. I also dedicate my time to prepare the classes thoroughly before the tutoring. Do not hesitate to contact me, I will be glad to assist you.

Here is a bit of my biography. Talk to you soon!

After a master's degree in Mathematics and Biochemistry, I was awarded two competitive national fellowships to teach for 4 years in a European university and study for a PhD in Biology and Biochemistry. After graduating with highest distinction, I took a position as a Postdoctoral fellow at UNC-Chapel Hill, where I undertook a 5-year research project in Biology and Biochemistry, which received a U.S. federal grant from the National Institutes of Health. I was then promoted to Research Assistant Professor, continued to teach Biology and Biochemistry at UNC for 4 years, and was the award winner of a year-round in-house oral presentation research contest in my Department.

I also supervised and trained students in all the steps from thinking and building a scientific project around various scientific disciplines (Chemistry and Life Sciences), to obtaining and interpreting preliminary data and writing a successful competitive fellowship application. Under my

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I am very patient and prepare all my classes in advance in order to ensure that each of my students receive individualized attention, and that each student's specific learning needs are catered to. After explaining the concepts, training exercises are always part of a tutoring session, where everything is explained in depth on how to apply those concepts and avoid mistakes. With a Master's Degree in Math and 20 years of experience in tutoring concepts from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus, I deliver a clear message, which combined with patience, understanding of my students’ needs, and a method of working and learning, builds up confidence and drive success, also preparing them for the next level in their career. I hope to work with you soon!

I can help you succeed. I have published a dozen scientific publications in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, and can also help you with your reading and writing of scientific documents.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I love teaching Basic Math and Pre-Algebra because they are the building blocks of Mathematics. Working with positive and negative numbers (Arithmetic) is a pre-requisite before studying Algebra which introduces the notion of variables (when a symbol represents numbers). Too many students have not acquired these fundamental knowledges, and the negative impact is also seen many years later in high school and college. Pre-Algebra is about mastering the sets of numbers and the order of operations they are going to be involved in: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. Subtractions, and specially divisions which can take the form of a fraction, a mixed number or a decimal are what causes the most issues. Exponents, Square roots and Absolute values are concepts that need to be clearly explained as they are source of confusion that can last for a long time. When the four operations are fully understood, then comes the time to work with Percents and word problems with Fractions, Decimals and Percents. At this stage of the curriculum, students found difficult how to translate English language into Mathematical language, and they need proper guidance on how to address these questions. This type of translation will come back later with PSAT and SAT tests, as a prerequisite to successfully enter college. Basic Geometry will then encompass the use of Arithmetic to find out how to measure, calculate and recognize different shapes in 2 and 3 dimensions. Very knowledgeable and patient teacher

Dr. Patrick is very knowledgeable. He starts with simple concepts to make sure the student understands the complicated concepts. He goes at a reasonable pace and he always asks the student if the concept is clear. To make sure the lesson is understood, he always asks the student to explain back. Thank you so much.

Abir, 12 lessons with Dr. Patrick

BIOCHEMISTRY - Dear Joshua, thank you for your testimonial. I am looking forward to continuing our journey in Biochemistry! Warmly Dr. Patrick

Extremely knowledgeable and flexible tutor

We have two children in different grades and Dr. Patrick was an excellent choice for both of them. My daughter was very passionate about Biology and had perfect grades, but with Dr. Patrick's help she became so good No.1 and she obtained the prize for excellence in AP Biology of her school. My son is interested in Chemistry, but his Chemistry teacher left him with many unanswered questions and his AP Chemistry teacher declared that she only teaches for a 3. Thankfully Dr. Patrick give him confidence and cleared all the questions my son had. Dr. Patrick's knowledge as well as his calm and composed personality helped both of our children strive. Once the AP exams format changed this year he reacted very quickly. His manner of teaching for the FRQ AP questions, really helped in the context of the changed AP exams. Thank you.
