I am a biology student with a strong passion for STEM and scientific research. I have been involved in biology and research all throughout my academic experience through coursework and projects. My experiences have strengthened not only my understanding of STEM, but also my ability to explain complex concepts in engaging and understandable ways.
Over the past 2-3 years, I have gained experience tutoring and mentoring students in a variety of settings. I have worked one-on-one and in group settings with students in English, ACT/SAT preparation research projects, mentorship, and other STEM coursework. Most of my experience has been volunteer-based; however, I am quite excited to continue helping others grow in a professional environment. I scored a 36 on the ACT, and the study strategies and problem-solving methods that helped me succeed are the same techniques I now apply when helping students in improving their own performance and confidence.
My lessons are designed to be interactive and personalized to each student’s learning style and goals. I truly believe students learn best when they deeply understand concepts instead of simply memorizing information, so I focus on building strong foundations and critical thinking skills. I am particularly passionate about teaching biology, genetics, and other science subjects, but I also tutor math, English, research methods, and standardized test preparation. A typical lesson with me likely involves guided practice problems/scenarios, visual explanations, collaborative whiteboarding, active discussion, and personalized review strategies. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, helping them grow as learners.
My previous experience has primarily been in tutoring middle school and high school students seeking support in and beyond coursework, research mentorship, ACT/SAT preparation, and other STEM subjects!
