Bio

I do both virtual and in-person tutoring at my home in Cary (for students able to be around cats- although I can remove the cats from the room where I tutor). During the school year I am fully booked after school and weekends. I have availability during the day as noted. I have openings other than the instant book times- feel free to ask about other options.

I do both virtual and in-person tutoring at my home in Cary (for students able to be around cats- although I can remove the cats from the room where I tutor). During the school year I am fully booked after school and weekends. I have availability during the day as noted. I have openings other than the instant book times- feel free to ask about other options.

I have more than 20 years of professional experience tutoring students ages 8-80+. I have worked extensively with middle and high schoolers, college students, and returning adult students.

I taught high school math (Intro to HS Math through Calculus BC) for four years. I hold a teaching certificate in ESL/ESOL (English for non-native speakers). My undergraduate degree was chemical engineering, which gives me a strong background in chemistry and physics.

I have a minor in Spanish from NC State and speak well. Most of the music I listen to is in Spanish and there are many Spanish speakers in my life. So I can help students in Spanish classes, or people who want a practical grasp of Spanish. The time I have invested learning a foreign language has given me a better understanding of English grammar. So, I write well and enjoy helping others express themselves effectively.

I can teach all portions of the SAT and ACT and have lots of experience doing so. My GRE scores were very high as well. I have taught for big-name companies and know that private tutoring with me is the best help available. But, please note that tests like the SAT and ACT are different than tests on specific concepts, so scores are less plastic than grades in a class.

I navigate academic settings well and like to help others reach their full potential in their classes and other endeavors. As a Caldwell Scholar alumna, I have interviewed scholarship applicants. As a high school teacher, I helped students with college applications and saw 3 of them win prestigious full scholarships.

Contact me with any questions and I will reply promptly!

Awesome Tutor

Beth has been such a huge help, not only to myself but to both of my kids. She has been an invaluable resource helping my daughter with her AP Spanish and AP Calculus, as well as my son with chemistry. She is extremely patient, knowledgeable, and reliable. We can't thank her enough for her help and I would HIGHLY recommend her as a tutor!

Very good first session

Beth went over Algebra with my son - he reported that she made things easy to understand. He was not very receptive to online tutoring, but was very pleased with how it went and we are looking forward to the next session.

Excellent tutor

Our daughter very much enjoyed her session with Beth, and after the session seemed confident that she understood the work and motivated to pursue the subjects with more focus -- which was a big part of our original goal.

My teenage son liked her:)

Beth was able to get my reticent, math challenged teen to apply himself for an hour and he didn’t complain afterwards! She was patient and encouraging while pushing him to be more independent. Total win in our house!

Really great tutor!!! I highly recommend her.

Beth is an amazing tutor. She knows her stuff inside and out, and is completely reliable and flexible if you are in a bind. She helped my son with high school math and chemistry, and she was able to jump in and help him where he was at right away with upper level concepts and problems. She has been a lifesaver!
