Hi! I’m Jana, and I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University, where I majored in Child Development, Cognitive Studies, and Medicine, Health, and Society. Having an interdisciplinary background has shaped how I teach. It taught me how to explain things clearly, connect ideas across subjects, and make challenging material feel more approachable.
For the past five years, I’ve worked with students from elementary school through college in both academic support and admissions prep. I helped more than 250 students with EOG and EOC prep, general coursework, and applications and interview prep for selective public schools, boarding schools, and college admissions. That experience shaped the way I teach and showed me how important it is to tailor support to each student while building confidence along with stronger skills.
At Vanderbilt, I continued that work as a CRLA-certified tutor, where I tutored Biology I and II, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, Biochemistry, Anatomy, and Physiology, and also served as a TA for General Biology. A lot of my experience has been in helping students take subjects that feel intimidating and making them feel more manageable and approachable.
I’ve also been on the other side of high-stakes testing and competitive applications myself. I scored in the 99th percentile on both the SAT and the DAT, and after recently going through the dental school admissions process, I understand how much strategy, preparation, and confidence it takes. Because of that, I try to help students not only strengthen their understanding of the material, but also feel more prepared for the bigger process around it.
I’m now an incoming first-year dental student at the UNC Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry, and I’m excited to keep helping students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and reach goals that may have once felt out of reach.
