I'm Abir! I graduated cum laude with my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Integrative Physiology and Neurobiology from North Carolina State University in May 2019. After I took honors biology in my freshman year of high school, I knew that I wanted to major in it in college. The rest is history.
Although I have never tutored students through a service such as this one before, I do have experience tutoring my peers from when I was in high school and college. I have helped my peers in courses such as biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. I was actually a teaching assistant for my biochemistry professor during my final semester of undergrad. The class I worked with had roughly 100 students.
Something my peers often told me whenever I tutored them in challenging courses is that I have a knack for being able to effectively translate teacher/professor speak to layman's terms. I was also told that I was good at making study sessions more fun because I explained the content effectively and humorously with analogies that are over the top but work well to get information to stick in the mind. My philosophy is that it's easier to remember things that you think are funny and enjoyable. I want to ensure that you feel comfortable with asking any and all questions. I'm here to help you help yourself. If you are a visual learner and have a photographic memory, then my teaching style will work well for you as I am a visual learner with a photographic memory myself.
We can schedule sessions at a local library. If you need to cancel a scheduled session, then please do so at least 24 hours before our scheduled time. Also, if you know which topics you would like to discuss and work on during our sessions, then please let me know what they are at least 72 hours before our scheduled time as I will need that time to prepare.
