Bio

As a tutor for over eight years, I have extensive experience mentoring and teaching students of all ages and levels. Instead of making students memorize formulas and plug-and-chug to get answers, I encourage them to understand the principles behind each problem. My favorite teaching moment is helping students create their own examples and analogies to achieve that "eureka" moment when everything clicks.

Instead of making students memorize formulas and plug-and-chug to get answers, I encourage them to understand the principles behind each problem. My favorite teaching moment is helping students create their own examples and analogies to achieve that "eureka" moment when everything clicks.

In May of 2020, I graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and Sigma Xi from Brown University with degrees in Spanish and Chemistry. I'm a second-year medical student at UNC-Chapel Hill. I've conducted analytical chemistry research at UNC, interpreted at a healthcare clinic for Spanish-speaking patients, and written educational content for Wyzant and Rosetta Stone. I'm studying German and ASL in my free time.

Dedicated and enthusiastic MCAT tutor!

Samuel is an amazing MCAT tutor! During our first lesson, he helped create a day-to-day schedule for what the two weeks until my MCAT would look like. As someone who was struggling with the organizational component of self-studying, this was extremely helpful! He gave me great recommendations for when to take FLs, what to practice each day, etc. During our other sessions, we would go over my recent FLs and UWorld questions that I had missed. He sent me so many resources to help organize my progress in studying (for example, a Google Sheets to keep track of which questions I missed and why I missed them), and he was always available when I was in need of help! I would highly recommend him.

lifechanging MCAT tutor

Samuel and I have been working on the CARS section of the mcat. in just 1.5 hours I have made extreme progress in both my strategy and confidence and it reflects in my scores. Sam explains things so well and I couldn't be more grateful. 10/10 would recommend.... Update: I ended up scoring in the 95th percentile on CARS and being accepted to medical school. Could not have done it without Samuel.

Awesome tutor

At every session Sam has a warm up problem for my son. He carefully explains algebra concepts. He is thorough and does not let my son cut any corners. He bridges one concept into the next.
