I am a college student and an early childhood teacher. I have always had a passion for teaching. I am a Spanish speaker first; but I excelled in all my English classes at an early age considering it is my second language. I have worked in the school setting since the age of 16. My focus has always been on teaching children in general; but when it comes to languages I have tutored several adults in my community, including my parents. I apply my bilingual skills in my own classroom and teach my students primarily in English with an intro to Spanish.
My community is primarily Spanish speaking, and it is tough when you do not know English. I have volunteered many hours over the years to translate for my community. Town meetings, budgeting classes, conferences, lawyers, etc. are just a few of the places where my skills have had a great influence. On behalf of a nonprofit organization we started an ESL class for adults to help our community. I have always found pleasure in helping people and bring communities closer together.
I have worked in after school programs tutoring elementary aged students (pre-k to 5th). I have tutored in ELA, math, science, history, and ESL students.
