I have a BSc in Genetics & Development and Biochemistry, a BSc (Med) Honors in Biological Anthropology and Applied Anatomy, and a Masters in Public Health. I am currently in a PhD program for Medical and Health Professions Education. My favorite academic areas are human biosciences including human biology, genetics, anatomy and physiology.

Clinically I am a Lactation Consultant and work at a local hospital. I have taught continuing education to med students, medical fellows and CMA academy students. Targeting education to different levels of training is really exciting to me, and I would love to work with some younger students who are excited by science, and help them to keep their passion going.

I love to teach, and finding new ways to approach content so that students can understand it is something that drives me. I have taught human anatomy in undergraduate and graduate health professions programs for many years (3 in South Africa, and 4 in the US), and small group and individual focused teaching is something I love to do. I have recently provided one-on-one and small group tutoring to graduate health students in advance of their exams. I believe strongly in active learning, and love designing exercises or games that help students to learn content.

I like to work with students' own learning styles and adapt to them - some students need to hear more explanations, some need to draw, some need formative assessment (quizzes or exercises that help them to find where they need to study more). Designing tools and formative assessment opportunities is something I have a lot of experience with in lactation education, but can apply it to any field.

I hope to meet and help many new students on this platform.

Anatomy

I have taught anatomy in human dissection laboratories for 7 years including medical, physical therapy, occupational therapy and physician assistant students. I provide didactic teaching and one-on-one tutoring as a guest lecturer at a number of institutions.

I have degrees in genetics and development and biochemistry, biological anthropology and applied anatomy and public health. All of these required understanding and studying in the biological spheres. I have worked in education, specifically in health professions education at the graduate level and am a board certified lactation consultant. Human biology, cell biology, genetic and anatomy are some of my favorite topic areas to teach.
