My approach to teaching Social Studies and History is applying a What-So What-Now What model for students to progressively develop depth of understanding and critical thinking skills. The goal is to move from just fact retention (the What) to understanding historical context and importance (So What) and taking the final step to develop awareness of our modern context and how history informs us and how to apply our understanding to our current times (Now What).
