Learning does not have to be boring!

I currently hold an Associates Degree focusing in General Education and will be furthering my education this fall at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. At the close of the 2022-23 Academic Year, I received multiple accolades for my passion for learning, positive attitude toward peers and instructors, and exemplified outstanding qualities in my commitment to reach each of my educational goals. Aside from graduating Summa Cum Laude for continuous academic standing on the Presidents List Honor Roll, I was presented the Golden Laurel Award at the 2023 Honors Convocation. This award recognizes graduating students with the highest-grade point averages in their program, who have also demonstrated leadership skills and civic responsibility in their communities. These achievements earned me an invitation from the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; the largest and most prestigious international honor society for college students.
I began private tutoring at the start of the 2021 Spring semester due to peers reaching out to me randomly for assistance with course material. Most relied on my remote tutoring assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic when we could not be in a classroom setting with our instructor present. Although I have graduated, I am still currently tutoring 3 learners who are enrolled in summer English and Psychology courses.

I credit my success as a student, and now Tutor, to the importance of recognizing different learning styles. There is never a "one shoe fits all" method when it comes to anything, especially education. I really take the time and patience to learn about the individuals I work with. By identifying their needs and interests, I am not only able to pinpoint where one might be struggling and focus on that area, but I am also able to incorporate things they may be interested in as real-world examples. Learning does not have to be boring! You just have to find the fun in it. .
