Out of everything I've learned in academic coursework and university research labs, the biggest takeaway is simple: everyone thinks differently, yet our school system routinely disregards it. Having personally navigated public, magnet, homeschool, and private settings, I’ve seen firsthand that true success depends on matching the method to the student. My goal is to individualize my teaching and, more importantly, make learning—if not fun—at least interesting.

Hi, I'm Sam. I’m an honors psychology undergraduate at Appalachian State University. I’ve been tutoring and mentoring students for about three years, bringing experience with learners from all kinds of unique backgrounds. Currently, I serve as an editor for a campus creative writing publication, work as a researcher in the Anxiety Research Lab, and study within the experimental Watauga Residential College.
Because of this background, I specialize in working with students who have ADHD and those coming from non-traditional academic paths –with homeschooled students and neurodivergent learners being some of my favorite people to work with!!!– Whether you've fallen behind, are just hanging on, or want to get ahead, I can help! I'm here to edit essays, unpack dense readings, and make sure you ace that psychology test. As a bonus, if you happen to be working on any creative writing projects, ranging from a short story to a full novel series, I would love to help in any way I can.
