My personal mission as an educator has been to empower and engage every child to become the best that they can be. I know the importance of building close relationships while setting high expectations for my students to ensure that we are continually showing growth and improvement. I would like to bring my proven record for student growth in North Carolina and Florida to the students seeking tutoring.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of North Florida and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on Integrated Learning with Educational Technology from Jacksonville University. In August 2022, I received a License from North Carolina in Elementary Education K-6 and School Administrator: Principal. While living in Florida, I earned Florida Certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal, and Elementary Education K-6. I also hold endorsements from the State of Florida in English for Speakers of Other Languages and Reading. My most recent classroom experience has been in a Title I, fourth grade classroom in Asheville, NC. The most current 2023 EOG scores for reading have come in with 86% of my students proficient with scores from the 99th percentile to the 84th percentile. The five students who did not make proficiency all demonstrated growth. While in Florida, I taught at a school that was facing closure for low performance from the State. In three years, during the pandemic, we raised the school grade from a D to an A. I might mention that ours was one of only two schools in the State of Florida to do so during the 2020-2021 school year. I recently received recognition from Governor Ron DeSantis for my highly effective student growth scores (top 4%) and was asked to sit on a panel discussing school improvement with educators from around the state. I continue to study and stay up to date with the latest in Science of Reading, social-emotional learning and strategies to reach reluctant readers and writers.
