I believe when students feel supported, safe and are given every opportunity to learn, you can and will. Many schools fail at preparing students' and instilling a confidence and love for learning, so I have left my career in working at schools in hopes of more deeply meeting my students' needs by focusing on interventions designed just for you.

My passion is giving people just like you the strategies and skills you need to meet their goals and feel successful. I have my Master's in Early Childhood Education, an ESL certificate to teach English as an other language, and I'm becoming trained in teaching mindfulness to children. I taught in elementary public schools for 10 years, and elementary international schools for 5 more. My favorite subjects to teach math, reading and writing, but feel free to ask me about other subjects.

I have helped students move away from memorizing algorithms and procedures to developing a true understanding of math concepts. If you are tired of not "getting" math, I can help! My Master's thesis was on constructivist math and I learned how math can be understood deeper and even become fun. As a former student who always struggled with math, I understand the struggle!

I was trained through the Buck Institute's Project Based Learning to help students explore their inquiries. While my students' work was more on the authentic side, I am also familiar with the Common Core Curriculum for elementary students. I can help you design your own project or work with a project assigned to you.

I was trained for almost all 15 years of my career in Lucy Calkin's Reader's Workshop and Writer's Workshop. I also used comprehension strategies from Stephanie Harvey and early literacy strategies from Fountas and Pinnell. I can help with phonics, decoding, fluency and expression and reading for meaning. I can also help young students improve their craft, organization, and conventions. If you need help with learning English, I have taught ESL students in all my regular classrooms, and

Common Core

Over the past 6 years Common Core has been adopted by schools, I've been successful in aiding 97% of my students in making Common Core math understandable. I also designed Common Core reading, writing, science and social studies standards into integrated fun and engaging units of study and workshop models, so that students can still enjoy the writing process and the literature they read, and find authentic and meaningful connections to science and social science content.
