When it comes to tutoring, I believe that each student receives information differently and therefore may learn differently than other students. Some students do well with traditional methods. When it comes to tutoring, I believe that each student receives information differently and therefore may learn differently than other students. Some students do well with traditional methods. For those that do not, I use creative thinking and skill to find a way of learning that best suits the student’s needs even if those methods are unconventional. Working with you to find what best suits your needs is my specialty. I have been trained by two different agencies to be able to assess what system will work best for you. The first agency I trained with was a non-profit literacy council that focused on straight reading and phonics. The second agency was an education coalition that focused on a one-on-one method for tutoring and mentoring school students. Those two systems put together enables me to teach a variety of skills to a larger audience while achieving maximum results.

When it comes to tutoring, I believe in using the Socratic Method for the best results. I teach the subject and then, in turn, have you teach me. Learning by doing rather than learning by watching or listening is a much more powerful way to learn and the information will stay with you longer. This system has worked well for me on various levels including teaching one student that was diagnosed with Asperger’s and several others that had ADD or ADHD.

Above all, when it comes to learning, I want you to know that I have your best interests at heart. I will treat you, and all of my students, with respect. In addition to respect and cooperation, I share with my students a sense of accomplishment for a job well done. The more you do, the more you can do!
