My background is in mathematics and astronomy. I taught myself calculus at 16 and had a full year of trigonometry and differential calculus in senior high school. I published my first scholarly paper at age 14 on the motion of Periodic Comet Biela in the Proceedings of the Southeast Regional Convention of the Astronomical League (Huntsville, Alabama) in August 1971. I have studied at both Guilford College and the University of North Carolina-Asheville. My current math level is a 'B' in Calculus III.
I have worked as an assistant tutor in the Math Lab of the University of North Carolina at Asheville where I have worked with student taking general mathematics classes to fulfill their mathematics requirement while majoring in subjects other than science or mathematics and with students planning to take college level mathematics but lacking adequate preparatory classes from high school. I have successfully completed mathematics courses through Calculus III, but for now, I prefer to keep my tutoring to trigonometry, precalulus mathematics.
