I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development from The Ohio State University in 2012 as part of the prerequisites for obtaining my teaching license. I hold a state teaching license in Spanish from Ohio and a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults).
I have over 15 years of teaching experience across a variety of educational settings and countries. I have taught English internationally in Montreal, Honduras, South Korea, and most recently Spain. I've also taught Spanish in a classroom setting for 6 years.
I have taught English, Spanish, and test preparation for English proficiency exams, specifically the Cambridge English exams and the Trinity College London English assessments. My teaching has included general ESL, literacy, grammar, writing, and conversational skills for a range of learners.
My teaching approach incorporates comprehensible input, storytelling, and Total Physical Response (TPR) to foster an engaging and authentic learning environment. I emphasize repetition, use of songs, visual aids, and presentations tailored to students’ interests to enhance comprehension and retention. I focus on making learning meaningful and relevant to each individual student.
I have worked with students ranging from preschool age through high school, adapting my teaching style to suit the developmental stages and learning needs of each age group.
Most of my teaching experience has been in classroom settings. Additionally, I have provided one-on-one tutoring both in person and online.
