Experienced Tutor Offering Spanish, English, and Art Lessons

Finnegan here! I am excited to be offering personal lessons in Spanish and English to learners of any level. Whether you are looking for individual classes or a series of lessons, I am excited to work with you to reach your language goals in the way that suits you. Additionally, I offer college essay tutoring and limited video production and creative writing classes.

I graduated from Warren Wilson College in 2023 with a self-designed Bachelor’s degree in Curatorial Studies. During my time at college, I also studied Spanish, participating in an exchange program at the Universidad de Monterrey in Mexico where I studied integrative art and multicultural and bilingual education, and even went on to visit Cuba on a scholarship to study its history and presence as a model for revolutionary social work. I additionally tutored high school kids who were migrants transitioning into American schools and were learning English, guiding them bilingually in a variety of subjects. Once I graduated, I moved to Spain to teach English at a public language school, where I created unique, invigorating lessons to integrate language and contemporary cultural topics for students aged 17-85. I also privately tutored youth aged 7-16 during my time there.

My preferred approach is experiential as the method is backed up by science and is, in my opinion, easier to stay connected to and show up for. However, I recognize the limitations of remote learning and also understand that grammar topics are sometimes better worked out dialectically. In in-person sessions, I will occasionally utilize field trips as a way to create experiential learning experiences; remotely, I will likely introduce a lot of cultural media and/or give you an engaging task to learn away from the screen. Through the different angles of information I offer through our tailored lessons, learners will become more interested, explorative, and self-starting in pursuit of their goals.
