I am an undergraduate student majoring in political science. I hope that I can work in non-profits, specifically those focused on educational opportunities for kids. I have been working with kids since I was a kid myself. It started with babysitting and nannying. Then, I moved on to work for a trampoline company where I planned and hosted kids birthday parties. After that I spent a summer in Costa Rica at a non profit daycare helping with lessons and games. Currently, I am working as a educational programmer at a local community center. I plan daily educational lessons for kids throughout the elementary age. I have many certifications in youth development and health.
Working with kids has always had a great impact on me. My favorite kid that I have worked with has to be my little sister. During the Covid-19 pandemic she was about seven while I was seventeen. My parents kept working in person and were gone from the house all day. So, it was up to me to help her with classwork. However, she struggled with certain things and was left unchallenged in many areas. So, I spent my days helping her with her assigned school work and then doing my own lessons I made up with her. This experience taught me many things, but it really showed me what helping someone learn something new can mean.
