Hey! I’m Calypso,
and I’m an Artist! I teach Fashion design, drawing, painting, design theory, and I’m 100% open to learning more about what you want to focus on so we can work with your desired media as well! I teach classes in person, and online. rates and hours of availability may vary depending on materials and travel time/scheduling for in person classes.

I am originally an Asheville native, and around the Black Mountain area there was a special little school tucked away called TLC (The Learning Community School)… this is where I began helping my mom teach art after school sewing class once a week (my mom being a fabric artist-this was her passion too!). I eventually started my own after-school class for arts and crafts and that’s when my passion for working with kids and teaching began.

My first public school experience was Asheville High! Which was a big change from my graduating class of 5 girls at TLC.. I ended up transferring to UNCSA (UNC School for the Arts) to study Visual Arts my Jr. and Sr. years of High School. This gave me a great foundation in Fine Arts at a Collegiate level. After UNCSA I studied abroad for a month at Parsons Paris studying Fashion Design (for college credit). Jason-Paul McCarthy, the then Director of the Fashion Design program at Parsons Paris ended up being my teacher! I went on to study Fashion Design at Parsons NYC campus on full scholarship. Professionally, I was a makeup artist for 4 years as well as a henna tattoo artist, consignment store Mgr. And I have taught every kind of lesson from beginner sewing, to draping and patterning an entire look, graphic design, bookmaking, sustainable printing, painting, drawing.. when it comes to materials and methods.. You name it.. I’ve tried it and/or taught it! Let’s have some fun and create some art! Thanks,
