Hi, I'm Jessie! I graduated from High Point University with a major in Elementary Education. I have been teaching for the past two years. I student taught in second grade and then I have taught third grade and then fourth. I have always loved teaching and supporting students. I started working with children when I was in high school and haven't stopped since. I have worked at many summer camps and other tutoring opportunities. Working at an elementary school definitely has its challenges, but I wouldn't change my career for anything. I favorite part about teaching or tutoring is when the information clicks with the students and they get so excited. I will work hard until each of the students I tutor can get that moment of understanding. Children work so hard in and out of school, and I would be happy to help each of them reach their goals.

Teaching reading is my favorite! I love getting to read and hear students read as well. I have had experience in teaching second, third, and fourth grade reading. However, I have been taught and certified to teach K-6 reading. I know plenty of resources to use for students and have access to them.

Teaching phonics can be difficult, the English language can be so tricky! However, I have had the opportunity to work with different phonics programs and see what works with students and what doesn't. I would love to share my knowledge with the students.

I think learning should be fun and interactive. We can turn math and reading into fun songs, dance moves, and other interactive ways. I believe if you work hard then you can achieve anything you set your mind to. I am excited to get to work with you!
