I help students and professionals work through complex technical problems in engineering, physics, AI, Python, and data science in a clear and structured way. I hold a PhD in Engineering Physics and have more than ten years of experience supporting high school students, undergraduate and graduate engineers, and professionals working on advanced coursework, exams, and technical projects.

Many of the students I work with are capable but feel stuck when dealing with difficult subjects such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, transport phenomena, structural analysis, or advanced mathematical concepts. Others come to me while preparing for the FE exam, working on capstone projects, simulation-based work, or research tasks that require both conceptual understanding and technical implementation. My role is to help break these problems into manageable steps and provide a clear path forward.

My approach is highly structured and focused on building a repeatable problem-solving method. I combine intuition with the underlying mathematics, organize each problem step-by-step, and help students recognize patterns so they can approach new problems independently. I also provide guidance on project organization, technical workflows, and how to approach complex assignments efficiently.

I frequently work with students in advanced or uncommon technical situations where it can be difficult to find the right support. This includes graduate-level engineering topics, computational work in Python or MATLAB, data science and AI-related projects, and research or capstone development. My goal is not only to help you complete the immediate task, but to help you build confidence and a strong framework for solving complex problems on your own.

Absolute Game Changer for Information Theory!

I'm in my last year of Electrical Engineering grad school, and I was really struggling to tie all of the concepts in Information Theory together. I've taken several courses rooted in probability theory, and my experience is that professors for those subjects fall in two camps: 1) those that excel at the math, and can't explain the intuition behind it, and 2) those that can explain the intuition, but can't apply the math to save their lives. Knowing the above, I despaired at the idea of finding a tutor. I needed someone who could explain the way to approach the problems and the intuition behind them, AND I needed the math. Oh, and if they were punctual, organized, good communicators, and just generally personable, that'd be really nice. However, my expectations were low. At best, finding someone who could meet my main criteria (help me understand information theory) would be a miracle I thought. Man, I was blown away by Dr. Chandra! He nailed every single one of the above criteria. I sent him the homework I was struggling with and a few days later he showed up to our lesson with a neatly typed up homework package that re-wrote each problem in plain language, identified the key principles behind them, provided a step-by-step solution, and even highlighted major conceptual take-away from each problem. We spent the lesson walking through each problem, pausing occasionally to clarify a concept or draw out a process when I didn't understand. Add in the fact he was on-time, responsive to chats, and pleasant, and I just couldn't believe my luck! It is not an understatement to say that in the space of a week I went from dreading information theory homework to looking forward to it. My only regret is that I didn't find him sooner. The first couple years of grad school would have been significantly less stressful with his help. If you're an older student/working- professional, and you're looking for someone who understands the subject and exhibits a high-level of professionalism, go with Dr. Chandra. He is that rare gem in the engineering field - someone who can take abstract, involved concepts, and make them digestible for everyone.

extremely patient

Dr. Joshi has been an exceptional tutor for my son, Akhil, in his neuroscience course. He has helped Akhil with both lab reports and core course topics, including Chapter 12 (psychopathology), as well as attention, consciousness, schizophrenia, depression, and related neuroscience concepts. What makes his teaching especially effective is how he breaks down complex material into a structured and understandable format, helping Akhil connect concepts instead of just memorizing them. Akhil sometimes finds it challenging to organize information, process large amounts of content, and express his understanding clearly in writing. Dr. Joshi has been incredibly patient and supportive in addressing these challenges. He provides a clear framework for approaching lab reports (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion) and guides Akhil to write in his own words while refining clarity, structure, and scientific accuracy. For exam preparation, he focuses on how to approach different types of questions, interpret concepts, and apply knowledge rather than just recall facts. This has helped Akhil feel more confident and less overwhelmed when studying. What stands out most is Dr. Joshi’s ability to adapt his teaching style to Akhil’s needs while building both understanding and confidence. We have already seen improvement in his approach to studying and his overall confidence in the subject. We are very grateful for his support and would highly recommend him to any student, especially those who benefit from a structured, patient, and encouraging learning approach.

Excellent Tutor

I worked with Dr. Joshi for my Design of Machinery course, and he was very helpful in improving my understanding of the material. He explains concepts like four-bar linkages, crank-slider mechanisms, and gear systems in a clear and structured way. What I found most helpful was how he breaks problems down step by step—from understanding the geometry and free body diagrams to setting up equations and solving them correctly. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and always prepared for sessions. He helped me feel more confident with topics I was struggling with, especially in understanding how forces and motion relate in mechanical systems. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing help with mechanical engineering courses.

The Albert Einstein of Climate Science

I worked with Dr. Joshi for my Climate science course, and he has been extremely helpful in building a clear understanding of the material. He explains topics like Earth’s energy balance, greenhouse gases, and climate systems in a very structured and intuitive way. What I found especially helpful was how he connects theory to real-world problems and breaks everything down step by step. He also helped me approach assignments more effectively by focusing on both conceptual understanding and problem-solving, which made a big difference in my confidence going into exams. Overall, he is very knowledgeable, patient, and well-prepared for each session. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for support in climate science or related subjects. He's the best and will help you master any topic.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Dr. Chandra Joshi was extremely helpful with my SAP assignment. I am a beginner, and he guided me step-by-step through the process in a very clear and structured way. He not only showed me what to do but also explained why each step mattered, which helped me understand the material much better. After our session, I was able to complete the rest of the assignment on my own with confidence. He is patient, knowledgeable, and very supportive. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs help with SAP or data-related assignments.

Extremely knowledgeable about computational probability

Dr. Chandra was extremely helpful in guiding me through a complex assignment involving the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm, Monte Carlo integration, and MATLAB implementation. What stood out most was his ability to break down the entire workflow in a clear, structured way. We went through the problem step-by-step, including understanding the theory behind the algorithm, implementing both local and global proposals, and interpreting results such as acceptance rates, effective sample size, and coefficient of variation. He also helped clarify how the MATLAB code works in detail, which made it much easier to troubleshoot and understand the logic rather than just follow steps mechanically. By the end of the session, I had a much stronger understanding of both the theoretical concepts and their practical application. I would highly recommend him to anyone working on advanced topics in applied mathematics, MCMC methods, or computational assignments.

Excellent Tutor!

I’ve been working with Dr. Joshi for my FE exam preparation, and the sessions have been very helpful. We are meeting twice a week through for a month from now, and I can already see steady progress in both my understanding and my problem-solving approach. So far, we have worked on topics including mechanics/materials-related problems, electricity, and now fluid mechanics, moving through the exam material step by step in a very structured way. What I appreciate most is that he does not just explain the solution, but teaches how to recognize problem patterns, use the FE Handbook efficiently, and approach questions with a clear strategy. Our sessions have also helped me improve my exam mindset, time management, and confidence. I feel that I am building a stronger foundation in each section and making real progress toward my exam. I would definitely recommend Dr. Joshi to anyone preparing for the FE exam and looking for organized, thoughtful, and effective guidance.

Very knowledgeable

I had a great first session with Dr. Joshi and found it immediately helpful. I reached out because I am transitioning into a new client-facing technical role and wanted support with public speaking, live demos, and communicating more confidently in professional settings. In our session, we focused on demo-style communication and worked on improving my pacing, structure, and clarity. What I found especially valuable was how practical the session was. Dr. Joshi gave me a simple structure to organize my explanations more clearly and helped me make real-time adjustments that immediately improved how I presented technical information. By the second round of practice, I could already feel a difference in my delivery and composure. He is very thoughtful, structured, and encouraging, and the session felt directly applicable to the kinds of situations I will face in my new role. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with him on presentation skills, live demos, and client-facing communication. I would definitely recommend him to other professionals who want to become more confident and effective communicators.

Thank you, Anthony—I really appreciate your thoughtful feedback. You’re approaching this transition in exactly the right way. You already have strong technical depth, and now it’s just about structuring and delivering that knowledge in a way that feels clear and confident in client-facing settings. I’m glad the session felt practical and immediately applicable—that’s always the goal. You picked up the structure and adjustments very quickly, and the improvement between your first and second run was noticeable. I’m looking forward to continuing our work together, especially as we move into more real-world scenarios like live demos and client interactions. We’ll keep building this step by step so it becomes natural for you in your new role. Thanks again, and I appreciate the recommendation.
