Areas of Focus Include (but not limited to): Fundamentals, Technique, Rhythm, Tone, Tunes, Scales, Chords and Arpeggios, Drums (Bass/Drum Relationship), Recording (Garageband, Logic Pro, Recording for Bassists, etc.), Music Theory, Walking Basslines, Harmony, Reading Music, Fretboard/Fingerboard Knowledge, Using the Bow (Upright), Improvisation, Groove Playing, Soloing and more.

Bass Styles include:  Jazz, Blues, Soul, Classical, R&B, Rock, Reggae , Funk, Fusion, Pop, and more.

Lessons consist of a combination of learning proper technique and fundamentals in order to build a solid foundation on the instrument. Any great musician is always going back to the fundamentals. Some players may need less of them and we can focus on more "advanced" stuff, but being well rooted in fundamentals is key. I like to keep a balance in areas such as technique, scales, chords/arpeggios, groove playing, improvising, some reading and playing in a variety of styles and genres. Timing and rhythm is essential for any great musician so I emphasize rhythm and help students build from there. My goal is to get students to become working players and to provide them with the tools needed to be well rounded and possess great overall musicianship.

Music Production

Music Production

While attending College, I took several courses on Music Production including the use of Apple programs Logic and Garage Band. I've since been writing and recording my own music on a regular basis. I have spent time in professional music studios and with renowned artists to continue developing my knowledge of the recording arts. I have helped students build a foundation on these programs who now use the skills to record their own material.

Excellent Music Production Lesson – Highly Recommend Steve!

Steve met with my 15-year-old daughter for two hours to work on Logic and music production. He was very detailed, precise, and super professional. Communication was great and he explained everything clearly. We will definitely reach out again as she continues learning Logic and for our other music needs!
