My teaching career started as a graduate student and by the time I completed graduate school, I had been honored with the best teaching assistant award in chemistry. After three years of postdoctoral research, I delved into full time teaching at the college level. I have taught on a full time basis for the last 8 years. I believe in teaching students how to learn especially guiding students identify key areas of improvement so that they can build solid foundation in the subject matter in question. While teaching in college, one of my greatest joyful moments were the times I helped students achieve beyond their expectations in the physical sciences (Chemistry and Physical Science). I believe in listening to the student and by so doing, I am able to understand the barrier to the students progress in the subject matter in question.
If you are the student, I will work diligently with you to assist you in meeting and surpassing your stated learning objectives and outcomes. If you are the parent, your child is in good hands and by the time we complete tutoring for your child, your child will have acquired new learning skills (learning how to learn).
I have found students respond favorable to challenges posed by their instructors or tutors. If you the student or the parent and the students are ready for the challenge, then let us get started. Remember, Procrastination is a thief of time.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. End of semester special. Regular rate is $50/hr.
Chris worked with my daughter with her AP Chemistry. He was excellent at breaking things down for her and assisting her with preparing for tests.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied chemistry: BS, MS, and PhD. I have strong background in organic chemistry that includes: Doctoral research in organic electrosynthesis, teaching College Organic Chemistry 1 and Organic Chemistry 2 at Shaw University. I have provided tutoring in organic and general chemistry within my community.
Having studied chemistry to the doctoral level, I have publications in peer reviewed journals and I have many years of experience teaching chemistry. I believe in helping students identify key basic principles that may be hindering their comprehension of chemistry. I believe in teaching students how to learn, this was, the students ultimately become independent learners. I have taught general, analytical, organic and physical chemistry up-to college level seniors. Over the years, I have also mentored many students in chemistry and tutored nursing students in chemistry.
10 years teaching experience in College Chemistry. Been tutoring individual students in organic chemistry, analytical (quantatitive analysis) chemistry and general chemistry in the last 5 years.
Took several organic chemistry courses at undergraduate and graduate level.
