Hi, I’m Mary, and I’m a college-level Political Science and Government tutor with a strong academic and professional background in public policy, government operations, and political analysis. I am currently completing my Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Political Science at North Carolina State University, where I have consistently earned Dean’s List recognition. My academic training emphasizes critical reading, analytical thinking, and professional writing, which are essential skills for success in political science and government courses.
Alongside my coursework, I have gained hands-on experience in public service and government settings that directly inform my tutoring. I have served as a Congressional Intern in a U.S. House of Representatives district office, where I managed constituent communications, assisted with casework, and supported community outreach and official events. I have also completed internships with the North Carolina Department of Corrections and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Juvenile Justice division, where I worked with case documentation, data analysis, and policy-relevant research projects. These roles required clear communication, organization, and the ability to explain complex information in an accessible way.
While I do not have formal tutoring experience, I have extensive experience working directly with children and students in structured one-on-one and small-group environments. My tutoring style is supportive, structured, and student-centered, with a focus on helping students understand political concepts, connect theory to real-world examples, and strengthen their writing and study skills. I am happy to offer a brief introductory conversation to ensure a good fit and encourage students and parents to reach out with any questions or goals.
