My name is Cate! I graduated with a 4.0 with a bachelors in Genetics from North Carolina State University, and plan to start a PhD in the fall of 2026. I have previously worked as a tutor for another platform, and also have tutored for a daycare center, receiving my tutoring certification from the NTA. There I specialized in math and science based problems for students ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade. I was also a Genetics teaching assistant for a 300 level class at NC State, where I helped tutor students in math based and conceptual genetics questions. I additionally worked as a science based stem camp were I helped to teach students about physics and math based concepts.
My teaching style is learning by doing, so I like to find problems for the students, and then work with them to see where confusion may come from. I also like to take advantage of active recall, where I'll ask the student how to do a problem, which encourages them to go back and think about the problem, thereby allowing for memory retention, something that has helped me significantly in studying for exams. My degree has also given me a strong baseline in concept like algebra, biology, genetics, calculus, chemistry and more!
