Energetic tutor with elementary and special education experience

My name is Jennifer. I am an energetic and loving mom, teacher and Girl Scout leader. I love seeing the smiles that light up a child's face when they realize that they have mastered a skill they thought was too hard. I have taught special education in a local public elementary school for the last 11 years. Included in these years, is some afterschool tutoring at our local library. I believe that all children learn; some just need a little help reaching their goals.

As a teacher, I have an extensive knowledge of the topics, strategies, and programs used in the classroom. This knowledge allows me to build lessons that not only allow your student to acquire specific skills; but also save time because I know how your child's teacher taught that skill in the first place. I also understand the state and local tests, and what is expected on them. 9 years as an inclusion teacher, assisting students with special needs in the general classroom, has allowed me to implement numerous modifications to my lessons. Does your student need to stand to learn, play with a fidget item, take frequent breaks, or will your student only write with dry erase markers? I have used many techniques over the years to help my students gain skills. 2 years as the teacher in a self-contained special education classroom, allows me work with your student on more than just academics.
