Education:
I am a natural scientist, with training in biology and anthropology. I hold a PhD, MS, and BS in Biological Anthropology and have conducted two postdoctoral research positions in medical genetics and biology. I am fully bilingual in Italian and English, I have a Latin minor, and know some Spanish and Attic Greek.

I serve as a peer-reviewed journal editor as needed, and have over a decade of experience in technical writing. Thus, I am able to help undergraduate and graduate students with senior/master's theses as well as advanced PhD students with their dissertation or publishable paper writing.

Zoology

I am a natural scientist broadly speaking, have taken and TA'd for Vertebrate comparative anatomy/osteology and developmental anatomy (using cat, amphibian, and avian animal models). I am also trained in evolutionary and behavioral ecology, as part of my evolutionary biology training, and I am thus capable of understanding various life forms (excluding plants) from a theoretical framework. Thus, I understand vertebrates (and to a lower extent invertebrates) from both a biological and ecological perspective. Finally, as a biological anthropologist, I have a solid grasp of the primate order, including a genetic perspective. Half of my undergraduate and graduate credits are in Biology.

Motivating

She does a great job at editing my graduate school final thesis paper. Not only a pro at editing, but she keeps me motivated, which is one of the hardest components of grad school. I highly recommend her!

Silvia turns English grammar into science.

Silvia has a straightforward style. Her writings are concise and logical. Moreover, she has an impeccable sense of grammar. She knows Italian, Greek and Latin; all of those contribute to her appreciation of the grammatical rules in English. In places other English teachers tell you one expression 'sounds right', she can tell you the reason why one is correct while another is not. The amount of knowledge she commands is very impressive. Silvia helps me understand English grammar while I prepare for a writing test. Her insight has been invaluable. I am sure that she can help anybody in a similar situation. In addition, I highly recommend Silvia if you are looking for an excellent editor for your article or book. She is truly one of the best.
