During my time in the teaching profession, I have found that I enjoy the versatility of combining multiple academic disciplines. I am a very creative person and enjoy the opportunity to incorporate my creativity into the lessons that I teach. I have taught multiple classes in middle and high school. In the middle school, I taught Basic Math, College Prep and Honors Pre-Algebra, Honors Biology (8th grade), 7th and 8th grade General Science, English, Study Skills,and Physical Education. In the high school, I taught College Prep Algebra 1, College Prep Psychology, and AP Psychology.

I have many years experience teaching and tutoring students with ADD/ADHD. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies/Psychology and have taken many classes on the subject of ADD/ADHD. Many of my past students have had to deal with their ADD/ADHD in a classroom setting. I as their teacher had to make sure that they were focused and learning the material. I have worked one on one with students who struggle with ADD/ADHD and have had many successes. One student had trouble taking notes from the board and writing them in his notebook. I was able to teach him to hear certain words while still being focused on the lesson as a whole and write down only the important information. I have also tutored students who forget something 5 minutes after it has been explained. With them, I was able to increase their retention span and enable them to grasp the information and learn it before diverting their attention to something more interesting.

Great experience!

Maggie was super patient with my 10-year-old son who is in 5th grade doing 6th grade math. She knows her subject matter and carefully explained to him the steps he needed to take in solving the problems. I would definitely recommend her!

Very pleased!

My child started eighth grade coming off of a nearly-failing performance in math. During the first 9 weeks of the new school year, the combination of a new teacher at school, the help of Maggie B, and my child's individual effort brought the grade up to a very solid B (89). My child's very comfortable with Maggie B. and she does a great job of making principles and concepts understandable. We would definitely recommend her!
