Hi, I’m Kirsten. I specialize in academic writing support, proofreading, and academic coaching for high school, college, and graduate students, as well as professionals. I approach writing as an educator first: my goal is not just to improve a single paper, but to help writers become more confident, independent writers who can apply what they learn throughout their educational and professional careers. In addition to tutoring on Wyzant, I own and operate an editorial and academic coaching practice based in Bozeman, Montana.

My work focuses on educator-level revision rather than surface-level error correction. I help writers understand why a draft isn’t working yet and how to improve it—strengthening and organizing structure, clarifying ideas, developing arguments, refining sentence-level clarity, and meeting academic expectations. I regularly support essays, research papers, capstones, and other high-stakes writing. A core part of my work is guiding students who can explain their ideas verbally but struggle to translate those ideas into clear written form. I also provide detailed citation and bibliography support in APA, MLA, and Chicago styles.

My Spanish background includes over ten years of coursework, a year studying in Chile, and professional experience as a Spanish–English interpreter. I tutor Spanish at the beginner to early-intermediate level with a focus on grammar, reading, and writing; I do not offer conversational or fluency-based tutoring.

I currently work as a course director and instructor in outdoor education and wilderness medicine and have spent the past seven years in wilderness education. That experience shapes how I explain complex material, adapt to different learning styles, and teach for real understanding.

If you’re looking for focused, supportive help with academic writing, revision, citation work, Spanish foundations, academic coaching, or related digital skills, I’d be glad to work with you.

Exceptional Tutoring Experience with Kristen

Kristen is an exceptional tutor who played a crucial role in the success of my 7-9 page research paper for my introductory law class. Tasked with writing a research paper on a topic within the field of legal studies, I initially felt overwhelmed by the complexity and depth required. Kristen's reading, writing, editing, and proofreading expertise was invaluable. She meticulously reviewed my work, providing insightful feedback that significantly improved my paper's clarity, coherence, and overall quality. Her attention to detail and skill in refining my writing helped me better articulate my arguments and present my research more effectively. Kristen's constructive criticism and suggestions enhanced the paper and improved my academic writing skills. Her guidance was instrumental in helping me achieve a high standard of writing. I wholeheartedly recommend Kristen as a tutor. Her dedication, skill, and passion for teaching are evident in the support she provides. Kristen is an excellent choice whether you need help with writing, editing, or proofreading. She is truly outstanding at what she does.

Knowledgeable and Creative Tutor

Kirsten was able to help my son at the last minute on a Sunday to help him prepare for an oral exam in Spanish. My son has struggled with the language and she was able to help him with his fluency and give him ideas on how to relax and prepare himself just before the exam started. She's a great addition to my sons Spanish education! Highly recommend!!
