I am excited that you are considering me as a tutor! I earned my Bachelor's degree in elementary education, graduating with honors in 2016. Tutoring students in 1st-8th grade classrooms for three and a half years, followed by student teaching one semester of 1st grade, was the highlight of my undergraduate career. I am excited that you are considering me as a tutor! I earned my Bachelor's degree in elementary education, graduating with honors in 2016. Tutoring students in 1st-8th grade classrooms for three and a half years, followed by student teaching one semester of 1st grade, was the highlight of my undergraduate career. I worked full time in a Chicago public high school during the 2016-2017 school year, tutoring 9th and 10th grade students in algebra and geometry. Since 2018, I have been a private tutor, working with elementary and high school students who find me on Wyzant and through other arrangements. I have discovered that whatever the age of the student, or the subject at hand, I enjoy helping students to find ways to optimize their strengths with an individually tailored approach to meet their specific needs. The key to learning is building a positive relationship in which the student can focus and thrive, and I am committed to bringing this, my greatest strength as an educator, to every student I have the privilege of tutoring.

My mathematical accuracy, knowledge and ability allow me to help students (K-12) to analyze their mathematical processes so that they are able to improve their method and approach to mathematics. I am able to catch mistakes as well as the reason behind the mistakes. My background in elementary education enables me to identify the developmental gaps and reteach those concepts effectively so that students are able to rise to the next level, while simultaneously enabling them to succeed at their current level of study.

As a former elementary school tutor and teacher, I am comfortable and experienced tutoring more than just math. I am able to assist students in multiple subjects. This kind of versatility enables students to receive additional assistance without changing tutors.

I also have wide and varied experience tutoring students who are learning English, not only in language, but also in other subjects, using English as the medium. I live in a cross-cultural community where I have had the opportunity to speak with people who are learning English all of the time, so I have a long history of informal experience, as well.

I strive to help students not only learn, but also retain, the vocabulary and jargon unique to academic geometry. Instead of simply memorizing formulas, I desire that my students are able to understand how to approach a problem and find the easiest way to the solution. It is my joy to help students find success and joy while studying geometry!

With my background in elementary education, I have had the opportunity to teach handwriting to first grade students. In our education courses, we were taught how to identify and address reasons for difficulties in handwriting, and I was able to put that into practice as a student teacher with young students who were just beginning to write. I was pleased to see great improvement in my students' abilities, and I am excited to see the same improvement as I continue helping students learn how to write!

With over five years of experience tutoring students from a range of academic backgrounds, including homeschoolers, I believe that I have the experience necessary to help students from a homeschooling background to find academic success.
