Hello! I’m a college professor with a rich educational background that includes a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience and Spanish from Vanderbilt University, a Master’s in Criminal Justice, and a PhD in Criminology with a certificate in Computational Social Science from Northeastern University. Since 2012, I’ve been passionately tutoring students in a variety of subjects including Algebra, Statistics, Biology, Trigonometry, SAT/ACT prep, and Writing.

My approach to tutoring is deeply influenced by a transformative experience I had during a statistics course in college, which changed my perspective on learning and teaching. This experience taught me the importance of connecting subject matter to a student’s intrinsic interests to foster a motivating and enriching learning environment. I apply this philosophy in every session, striving to make even the most challenging topics accessible and engaging.

I have a decade of experience in one-on-one and small group tutoring, as well as teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Statistics and Research Methods. My academic work is aimed at making cutting-edge research accessible to all, a principle that also guides my tutoring methods, especially in writing and test preparation.

Whether you’re struggling with mathematical concepts or looking to refine your writing skills, I’m here to help you achieve your goals with patience and personalized support.

Biostatistics

Biostatistics

My educational journey, which includes a PhD in Criminology and Computational Social Science and a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, uniquely positions me to tutor in Biostatistics. My strong foundation in neuroscience, complemented by advanced graduate-level training in statistics, allows me to effectively bridge the gap between complex biological concepts and statistical methodologies. This integration of disciplines enhances my ability to guide students through the intricacies of Biostatistics, making challenging content both understandable and applicable.
Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice

I obtained a PhD in Criminology and Justice Policy from Northeastern University. During my graduate education, I taught courses focusing on statistics, theory, and research methods for criminal justice. I utilize quantitative and computational methods in my research, focusing specifically on violence, gun ownership, and media coverage of crime.
Data Science

Data Science

In the rapidly evolving field of Data Science, my doctoral research has endowed me with profound expertise, particularly in applying computational methods to analyze large datasets, including social media data. My dissertation work at Northeastern University involved extensive use of advanced computational techniques to uncover patterns and insights within complex digital interactions. This experience not only honed my skills in data manipulation and analysis but also deepened my understanding of how data-driven approaches can be applied to real-world problems. I am eager to share this knowledge with students, helping them to master the tools and concepts essential for success in Data Science.
Sociology

Sociology

As a academic with a PhD in Criminology and a robust background in quantitative and computational research methods, I bring a deep understanding of sociology's analytical aspects. My expertise extends beyond traditional statistical techniques to include sophisticated computational methods that are vital for modern sociological research. This blend of skills enables me to instruct students in both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of sociology, helping them to effectively analyze and interpret social phenomena through data-driven insights. My approach is designed to empower students to harness these tools to address complex questions within the field of sociology.
STATA

STATA

With extensive experience in using STATA for complex statistical analysis, I am well-equipped to tutor students in this powerful software tool. My proficiency in STATA is grounded in my thorough understanding of multivariate statistics, including advanced techniques such as factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and hierarchical linear modeling. These methods are essential for rigorous data analysis in academic and professional research settings. I am committed to helping students master STATA to conduct sophisticated analyses, interpret their results with confidence, and apply these skills to diverse research projects.
Statistics

Statistics

With a robust background in teaching and tutoring statistics across multiple levels, I am well-prepared to guide students through this critical discipline. I have taught statistics courses to undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students at Northeastern University and will continue to do so at the University of Montana. My experience also extends to tutoring high school students in statistics and AP Statistics, where I focus on making complex theories accessible and engaging. This broad range of teaching has equipped me with the versatile skills necessary to help students at any academic level grasp the fundamentals of statistics and apply them effectively in various contexts.

She’s always on time, is willing to make availability, very educated/informed on research assignments, friendly and comfortable environment

I reached out to Madison concerning a research proposal that needed to be completed for a course needed to complete my degree. I was very lost with the instructions and Madison was able to break down the requirements needed in the paper and discuss each instruction individually to better understand what I was going to be writing. I did reach out to Madison a week before the proposal was due and she still made the time to meet up with me three times which I loved because we were able to not only go through my ideas but also have time to look through the actual proposal itself. I also really liked the way she explaining things by using words and terms that would be more understanding when writing a “big word” paper. I would definitely use Madison’s tutoring services again!

Patient and very helpful tutor

Madison has been an incredible help throughout my Criminology Research Methods course. She supported me in preparing for exams by explaining concepts in a way I could easily understand and helped me effectively memorize key terms and ideas. More importantly, she guided me step-by-step through a challenging, semester-long research paper, making the entire process much more manageable. Madison even went above and beyond by reviewing and providing feedback on my paper outside of our scheduled sessions. Her kindness, patience, and deep knowledge have made a huge difference in my academic success. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an outstanding tutor.
