I started teaching in 1989 in the Chicago suburbs where I grew up. Instructing Language Arts taught me a lot about the written word and critical thinking. After six years I began teaching United States history. After a move across the country to Montana I taught US History, Government, and International Baccalaureate History of the Americas and 20th Century Issues. My graduate coursework emphasized original document analysis which provided and excellent grounding for IB and AP history instruction.

I have taught online for seven years. I have come to understand the power of the online platform through I teaching English to Chinese students and coaching Saudi Arabian English teachers to help them improve their skills. I look forward to bringing a personalized educational experience to students who are looking for extra guidance.

My background in teaching International Baccalaureate History has given me unique experiences preparing students for high stakes tests and high level reading comprehension. I have developed methods to teach difficult reading that students in advanced classes find challenging. My education at Trinity College helped provide a basis for religion and theology and the time I spent in Saudi Arabia extended my understanding of religious doctrine, history and its sociological impact.

My graduate work in US Constitutional history at Georgetown University, and American history at the University of Montana and Ashland University have strengthened my understanding of a variety of topics and honed my research and writing skills.
