I am a mother of three children ages 16 to 22 and have a Master's of Science Degree in Psychology with Child and Adolescent Focus. I have worked in the mental health field as a Family Support Worker for many years, and have enjoyed my work with children and adolescents teaching them vocational skills, social skills, and helping them with academic issues as well. I have also helped my own children excel academically. I would be most comfortable helping students in elementary and middle school grades as that is where my focus has been academically, although I have also helped my own children and a few others with difficulty in high school subjects, particularly English, writing, and social studies. I do work full time currently, however my hours are fairly flexible and I would be available to work a few hours in the evenings as well.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored both my own children as well as clients in elementary subjects, and have worked as a volunteer in the Montessori Elementary classrooms for several years. I began my college career in Elementary Education but after the second year switched to Health Management and Psychology with Child and Adolescent focus. I have experience working on lessons with children in grades k-5 extensively, and minimally with 6-8 and 9-12.
I have assisted in the Montessori classrooms grades k-5 for several years instructing and grading handwriting examples and providing special lessons and activities to improve student handwriting. I am able to use fun methods and activities to engage young students in enjoying writing.
I have assisted with this subject in the 3-5 year old preschool classroom, as well as the k-5 Montessori classroom. I also have a son with a speech deficit and hearing disability and have assisted him through activities meant to improve his language and phonics for several years.
