I believe that for many students, writing is a rewarding (but challenging) way to develop communication skills. However, writing is also an opportunity to foster self-expression. In all of my interactions with students, I work to make the writing process both relevant and manageable. I believe that writing practice requires learning who the student is as an individual author and working cooperatively to help him/her cultivate a personal writing practice.
