Hello. My name is Joshua. Having spent over a dozen years pursuing degrees in Philosophy, Latin, History and Theology, I am now a professor at the graduate level, with a half dozen years of experience teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. My academic background includes a B.A. in Philosophy and Latin, an M.A. in Early Modern History, and a Ph.D. in Theology. In addition to those formal degrees, I have completed advanced certificate programs in university pedagogy through the Foundations Certificate in University Teaching Skills and the Culturally Responsive Teaching Academy.
Beyond my work as a professor, I am a certified philosophical consultant through the National Philosophical Counseling Association, and have a consultation practice. Beyond mere subject expertise, which my degrees provide, this training in philosophical practice has sharpened my ability to engage with students more holistically, helping them to develop thinking skills as well as living skills through their studies. Whether you are studying philosophy, history, classics, Latin, religion, or the humanities more broadly, I offer more than quick answers- I provide a thoughtful partnership in learning. My aim is not merely to help students earn better grades, but to help them become more capable readers, writers, and thinkers.
