I'm Billy! I graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor's degree in Sustainable Food and Bioenergy System. My whole life, I have helped friends and siblings with math homework when they were struggling to learn and succeed in class. In college, I didn't take many math classes, and I missed the feeling of comradery and accomplishment I got from helping others with math. So, I became a math tutor at the Math and Stats Center (MSC) at Montana State. There, for three years, I helped students from diverse backgrounds to grow and flourish in their classes. At the MSC, I could be helping up to 20 students per hour in up to 8 different classes, so I had to learn how to communicate, get to know, and most importantly listen to my students quickly and effectively.
I tutored Pre Calc, Calc I, Calc II, and College Algebra for 3 years, and Introduction to Statistics for 2 years. I scored a 1560 on my SAT (790 math and 770 Reading and Writing) and can clearly and effectively communicate test taking strategies.
I'm a passionate and dedicated tutor who is most interested in not teaching students how to memorize content, but teaching them how to learn and grow as people. I find that I succeed most as a tutor when I give my students the tools they need to succeed, and when I develop a mutually respectful relationship with them. I'm easy to reach and genuinely care about the students I support, and love the work I do.
