Hi there! I'm Will, and I'm here to help anyone who needs support with their writing, whether it's developing ideas, organization and structure, mechanics, or simply a second pair of eyes.
I've spent the past 16 years writing intensively. I started in high school, where I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, which involved taking multiple two-year, college-level courses. The writing requirements were extensive, and I wrote dozens of argumentative and research-focused papers across humanities and sciencesd that were often multi-thousand words.
After high school, I attended Drexel University and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Environmental Studies. While I was in school, I worked in our student Writing Center as a Writing Consultant for 2.5 years. There, I helped hundreds of students with a wide range of writing assignments, from a freshman needing to better organize an essay for a 101 class, to a medical student needing to be more clear and concise in a research paper, to an ESL student needing tactical phrasing and grammar support. This is also where I discovered my love for helping others with their writing!
After graduating, I spent 9 years as a product manager building business software. Precise and concise writing for technical and non-technical audiences was a daily requirement, whether it was detailed product requirements to explain a new feature to my team, a new business idea to pitch to my leadership, or daily communication with customers or teammates via email or chat. Most recently, I took the GRE and scored a 162 on the Verbal section (89th percentile) as well as a 4 on the essay section (63rd percentile).
My approach to helping someone with their writing is similar to that of a coach. I teach principles, strategies and, most importantly, encourage. I will never tell you what to write or write for you. Hopefully, through our time together, not only will your specific writing project improve, but you will become a better writer overall.
