Hi! I'm Teresa M., and I am a retiree with 38 years of experience teaching high school English. Thirteen of those years I taught ACT English Prep classes. A two-time recipient of Teacher of the Year, I was recognized for my teaching expertise, my dedication to my students, and my ability to engage students in thoughtful and innovative ways. Though I have retired, I still desire to have an impact on teenagers by encouraging them in their learning.
I know first-hand what it is to receive the kind of encouragement that propels a student from self-doubt to self-confidence, and I pledge that kind of encouragement to every student I tutor. One of my former students recently sent me the following message: "Thank you for having an impact on me! I was hungry for challenge...I thank you for fighting the good fight." I will be available to students and parents for questions and concerns and will be flexible in meeting students' individual needs as we all fight the good fight.
I received both my B.A. degree in English and my M.Ed. degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in English from the University of Southern Mississippi. Additionally, I hold an endorsement in Gifted Education.
