I am currently a student at the University of Mississippi, pursuing a degree in International Studies with a dual concentration in East Asian Studies and Chinese Linguistics. Drawing upon a solid academic foundation, I have cultivated excellent communication skills and cross-cultural awareness, alongside a deep passion for language acquisition and cross-cultural education. I am also preparing to travel to Taiwan to further my studies in Chinese, with the aim of further enhancing my language proficiency and cultural understanding.
Although I have not yet accumulated extensive formal classroom teaching experience, I have assisted peers with their language learning through one-on-one tutoring and small-group study sessions. I enjoy fostering a relaxed and encouraging learning environment—one in which students feel supported and confident enough to ask questions. My tutoring philosophy centers on patience, flexibility, and effective communication. I firmly believe that students achieve the most significant learning outcomes when they feel understood rather than pressured.
The majority of my past tutoring and mentorship experience has focused on the university student population, providing academic and social support to my peers. Furthermore, I have actively participated in various community and campus volunteer initiatives, through which I have honed and demonstrated my leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. These experiences have taught me how to effectively interact with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning styles. I look forward to continuing to build upon my teaching experience while dedicating myself to helping students cultivate both confidence and a deep interest in the Chinese language and culture.
