Hello! My name is Hailey and I am so excited for the opportunity to be considered as your next tutor. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with Bachelor's in Special Education, a Master's in Curriculum & Instruction, and I am currently pursuing my Specialist's degree in Educational Leadership. My pocket-sized philosophy is what motivates every decision I make: RELATIONSHIP OVER CONTENT. Whether that be teaching in the classroom, coaching on the sideline, or handling any other task in life, I believe relationships are the foundation for any type of growth.
I began tutoring when I was in the 11th grade - I have tutored privately, within my classroom, and through an ACT-Prep business called "Class 101". In most of my past experiences, I allow the student to bring their classwork for Math to our tutoring session, which gives them 1:1 practice on the specific lesson the student is learning at school that week. This helps them drill the skill and prepare for any upcoming assessments. However, I have also prepared the lesson on the student's chosen topic as well, demonstrating my strengths as an educator and Master in Curriculum & Instruction. No matter the lesson preparation, I begin with reviewing foundational vocabulary associated with the topic, along with demonstrating several examples to the student. Once this is concrete, I allow the student to solve similar problems where my assistance is available for any road-bumps. Lastly, we move onto independent practice where I encourage their 100% effort to ensure the student is fully grasping the skill.
I have been award several distinctions in my educational and professional teaching careers, including but not limited to the following: CREATE Teacher of Distinction, Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Master of Education Degree Student, and Sylvia Mullins Tart Outstanding Educator in Special Education.
The heart behind all I do is building relationships with my students, empowering them to believe in themselves, and supporting them along their educational journey.
