I have over 15 years of classroom experience in both secondary and higher education. I hold a B.S.Ed. and M.Ed. in Secondary Education (Social Studies), an additional 18 graduate hours in U.S. History, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education. Throughout my career, I have focused on helping students better understand historical events, historical context, and the connections between political, economic, and social developments over time. I especially enjoy helping students become stronger analytical readers, writers, and thinkers.

I am an active classroom teacher, and my experience includes both traditional seated and virtual college courses. I have taught collegiate United States History courses, including honors and dual enrollment, and worked with students through individualized academic support. Much of my teaching focuses on helping students think like historians and work through history essays, document analysis, research assignments, and historical interpretation. Because I regularly evaluate student writing, I understand where students often struggle and how to help them communicate their ideas more clearly.

My teaching style is supportive and conversational. I believe students learn history best when they feel comfortable asking questions, talking through ideas, and making connections between events instead of simply memorizing information. Whether a student needs help understanding course material, organizing an essay, or preparing for an exam, my goal is to make history feel approachable while helping students build confidence in their abilities.
