Hi! My name is William, and I am a senior in college pursuing an honors double major in History and Biblical Studies. I graduated from school l in the UK, receiving standardized test scores in the top 6.6% of the students, as well as receiving the highest grades in my A Levels, the equivalent of an associate degree. When I moved to the US, I received an ACT score of 33 with only one try.
I am passionate about humanities, particularly history. I love teaching European and American history, having extensively studied both. However, I also have significant writing experience and a breadth of reading, so I would love to help with any English or English Literature classes. I am also pursuing a degree in Biblical Studies, so I could help with any religion classes.
I have tutored for Bible at my college for the past year. This has included helping students with individual assignments alongside discussions that clarify course materials. I have also helped tutor middle school students in history, math, and English. This involved going through different assignments and explaining concepts as they appeared to help the students complete their assignments. I have also helped students who are undertaking homeschool courses in history.
When I tutor, I teach with the intention of students being able to actually understand the course material, not just teach to the test question. To do this, I aim to be engaging in all of my teaching to help students not just understand the material but enjoy learning it. However, I also ensure that the students are able to complete any given tasks and apply their knowledge to test questions, including those on the SAT and ACT. I will always include practice time, where students can apply what they have learned to see if they need any specialized assistance.
