I am an experienced educator, Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing (NLN), and nursing education leader with extensive experience helping students strengthen academic knowledge, test-taking skills, and confidence. I earned a Ph.D. in Nursing Education and Administration from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and have served in higher education as a professor, Dean, and Director of Nursing. My teaching experience includes classroom, online, small-group, and individualized instruction with students ranging from high school and college-bound learners to pre-nursing students, nursing students, and graduates preparing for professional licensure.
For more than 10 years, I have provided ACT preparation with an emphasis on helping students understand how to approach ACT Math, English, and Science strategically rather than relying on memorization alone. My approach focuses on identifying knowledge gaps, breaking complex concepts into understandable steps, recognizing question patterns, eliminating incorrect answer choices, managing testing time, and building confidence through guided practice. I have had the privilege of seeing students use improved ACT performance to meet college and career entrance requirements and move forward toward educational and professional goals.
My nursing education and leadership background also provides a strong foundation for tutoring students preparing for the HESI Nursing Entrance Exam and NCLEX. I understand both the academic content students are expected to master and the critical-thinking skills required to apply that knowledge successfully. I use individualized instruction, practice questions, rationales, assessment of learning needs, and test-taking strategies to help students understand not only which answer is correct, but why it is correct. My goal is to help each learner develop a repeatable approach to analyzing questions, applying knowledge, and demonstrating what they know with greater confidence.
