I am a Mississippi-certified educator with 35+ years of experience in public K–12 schools, including roles as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and district-level instructional leader. My educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Math from Jackson State University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education from Mississippi State University and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Jackson State University, and I hold a Mississippi educator license with endorsements in 7-12 Mathematics and K-12 Educational Administration.
I have taught and tutored students across middle school, high school, and adult education settings in both classroom and one-on-one environments. My math experience spans Algebra I and II, College Algebra, GED preparation, and ACT Math readiness. I have worked with students ranging from struggling middle schoolers encountering variables for the first time to adult learners returning to education after years away from the classroom.
What distinguishes my approach is that I spent years at the district level training other teachers how to teach math effectively. That experience gave me a deep understanding of where students typically get lost — and exactly how to find the gap and close it. I do not teach to memorize. I teach to understand. My students can explain why an equation works, not just produce an answer.
In one-on-one tutoring I assess each student's specific gap first, build a targeted session plan around that gap, and measure progress every session. I adjust pacing based on the student's response — never rushing, never stalling.
I am available evenings for remote sessions and am committed to showing up prepared, on time, and focused entirely on your student's progress.
