LaDarius is a writer/director from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A product of Pascagoula High School (2013), LaDarius went on to obtain his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 2017 before going on to earn his MFA from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts in the Spring of 2020. As an advocate for social justice, he uses his films and teaches creative writing/filmmaking to serve as voices for the voiceless, in hopes of giving the marginalized the agency to claim and share their own narratives.
As an undergraduate, he created thought-provoking pieces that have received national attention and Audience Choice awards from UPWORTHY and America Media. In addition to the awards, LaDarius worked directly with youth in the community of Washington, DC as a mentor and instructor--creating a bridge/partnership between the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast DC and Georgetown University. Continuing through graduate school at USC's School of Cinematic Arts, LaDarius wrote and produced a number of short films including award-winning thesis film, Eye for an i (currently streaming on American Airlines via ABFF Collective).
Post-grad, LaDarius has worked on productions for Disney, Amazon Studios and BET, and, most recently, was commissioned by Village Roadshow Pictures to write the screenplay adaptation of Don Yaeger's (New York Times bestseller), "Turning of the Tide: How One Game Changed the South."
