I am an Associate Professor of Political Science with over 20 years experience teaching American government, federalism, elections, public policy, and political behavior. I hold a Ph.D. in Political Science and have taught thousands of undergraduate students in both introductory and advanced political science courses. In addition to my university teaching, I have served for more than a decade as an AP U.S. Government and Politics Exam Reader, giving me extensive experience evaluating student work using College Board standards and helping students prepare for success on high-stakes examinations.

My teaching focuses on helping students understand not only what they need to know but also why political institutions and public policies work the way they do. I adapt my explanations to each student's background and learning style. I emphasize critical thinking, real-world examples, and clear explanations of difficult concepts rather than memorization alone. For AP U.S. Government students, I use a structured approach that identifies strengths and weaknesses early, prioritizes the topics that will have the greatest impact on exam performance, and develops the analytical reasoning and writing skills needed for both multiple-choice and free-response questions. Rather than simply reviewing content, I help students study more efficiently by focusing their time where it will produce the greatest improvement.
