Ready to make pharmacology easier? Let’s work through it together.
With a PharmD and PhD and more than seven years of university-level teaching experience, I help undergraduate, graduate, and PharmD students turn complex pharmacology, neuroscience, physiology, and biology into concepts they can understand, connect, remember, and apply.
My goal is not simply to give you more information; it is to make the information make sense. I first identify where you are struggling, then break difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps. I focus on understanding rather than memorization, helping you recognize the reasoning behind drug mechanisms, clinical effects, adverse effects, and treatment decisions.

I use flowcharts, comparison tables, visual explanations, memory strategies, step-by-step calculations, and exam-style questions to help you master challenging material and apply it to clinical cases.
My areas of expertise include pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism, autonomic and neuropharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, neuroscience, and physiology. I also support PharmD coursework and preparation for NAPLEX, USMLE pharmacology, and NCLEX exams. Whether you struggle with organizing dense material, interpreting questions, narrowing down answer choices, or applying concepts to clinical scenarios, I tailor each session to your specific needs and goals. I also provide research, thesis, dissertation, and qualifying-exam support. I have completed a master’s thesis and PhD dissertation and have published 11 peer-reviewed papers, including three as first author. I have also guided PharmD and PhD students through research projects, thesis preparation, and qualifying exams.
Most importantly, my tutoring sessions are judgment-free. Every question is welcome, and we work at a pace that allows you to truly understand the material. You have already done the hard work of getting this far. Let me help you turn that effort into understanding, confidence, and results.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

I hold a PharmD and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with over 7 years of university-level teaching in anatomy, physiology, and biomedical sciences. My doctoral training and research gave me deep, applied knowledge of human organ systems, the nervous and musculoskeletal systems, cellular biology, and the mechanisms behind disease and neurological disorders. I've mentored and taught health science students across biology and pharmacy programs, helping them connect anatomical structures to their functional and clinical significance rather than relying on rote memorization. I specialize in tutoring anatomy for students in nursing, medicine, radiology, and other allied health fields, using clear visuals and real-world examples to make complex material stick.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I hold a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with experience teaching biochemistry to health science students. I have over 7 years of experience helping students in pre-med, nursing, pharmacy, and related programs understand complex biochemical concepts. My teaching approach focuses on simplifying metabolic pathways, molecular mechanisms, and enzymatic processes into clear, step-by-step explanations. I aim to strengthen students’ conceptual understanding, improve exam performance, and build confidence in mastering biochemistry.
Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint

I am a scientist with a proven track record in public speaking and Microsoft PowerPoint presentation design, having received 15 awards for oral and poster presentations at national and international conferences, including 1st Place Oral Presentation at a university research symposium. My expertise includes building polished, professional PowerPoint presentations using slide design, SmartArt, animations, transitions, and formatting tools to communicate complex technical information clearly to both expert and general audiences. This skill set has been formally recognized by national scientific societies through trainee awards specifically honoring excellence in conference-level research presentation. I bring this award-winning experience directly to students, teaching both public speaking techniques and hands-on Microsoft PowerPoint skills that consistently win recognition at competitive events.
NAPLEX (Pharmacy)

NAPLEX (Pharmacy)

Hi! I'm a PharmD and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a strong focus on pharmacology and physiology, the two areas that tend to trip up most NAPLEX candidates. I've also passed the FPGEE (Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination), which required mastering the same core biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences content tested on the NAPLEX, including pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmaceutical calculations. I've completed inpatient clinical rotations in gynecology, nephrology, pediatrics, and oncology, so I've seen firsthand how textbook concepts play out with real patients, exactly the kind of clinical judgment and decision-making the NAPLEX is designed to test. My tutoring approach for NAPLEX prep centers on high-yield content review, targeted practice questions, and identifying each student's weak areas early, so study time goes toward what will actually move the needle on exam day. My goal isn't just to help you memorize facts, it's to help you understand the "why" behind each answer, so you walk into the exam feeling confident and prepared.
NCLEX

NCLEX

I hold a PharmD and a PhD, with extensive training in pharmacology, pathophysiology, physiology, and disease mechanisms, which I apply to help nursing students understand the science behind NCLEX concepts rather than just memorizing facts. I specialize in teaching drug mechanisms as clear, memorable "stories" instead of long lists of names and side effects, and in breaking down disease processes into logical chains of cause and effect. My background also strengthens students' anatomy and physiology foundation and their clinical reasoning, helping them connect symptoms, mechanisms, and treatment decisions the way NCLEX application-based questions require. My goal is to build the kind of conceptual understanding that lets students confidently reason through unfamiliar questions, not just recall memorized content.
Neuroscience

Neuroscience

I bring seven years of graduate-level research experience in neuroscience, specializing in neuroHIV, where I ran advanced laboratory procedures including behavioral assays, survival surgeries, and tissue collection at the University of Mississippi. That hands-on research background gives me real command of core neuroscience concepts, neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology, brain-behavior relationships, and disease mechanisms, not just familiarity from a textbook, and I know how to translate that depth into clear, approachable explanations. I've also directly trained others in complex scientific methodologies, which sharpened my ability to break down technical material and quickly spot exactly where a student needs support. Whether you're working through an intro neuroscience course or tackling graduate-level content, I'll help you build a solid conceptual foundation and walk into your coursework with real confidence.
Pharmacology

Pharmacology

I bring seven years of university-level teaching experience in pharmacology and biology, paired with a PhD research background that took me deep into the mechanisms behind how drugs actually work in the body, not just what's on the slide. This includes three years as a Teaching Assistant in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi, where I provided individualized instruction to PharmD students and helped develop faculty coursework, alongside years of hands-on pharmacology research that sharpened my understanding of drug action at the molecular and physiological level. That combination means I don't just teach pharmacology, I've lived it in the lab, which is exactly why I can turn dense, intimidating material into something you can actually reason through. I specialize in the topics that trip up most students like PK-PD, ADME, drug metabolism, autonomic pharmacology, neuropharmacology, and cardiovascular pharmacology, with a strong track record preparing students for PharmD coursework, NAPLEX, and USMLE boards.
Physiology

Physiology

I hold a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with extensive training in human anatomy, physiology, and biomedical sciences that goes well beyond the textbook. Over 7 years of teaching and tutoring physiology to pre-med, nursing, pharmacy, and health science students has taught me exactly where concepts tend to break down, and how to fix that. I break complex physiological processes into clear, step-by-step explanations that build real intuition, so you're not just memorizing how a system works, you actually understand why. My focus is on strengthening your foundation, improving your exam performance, and building the kind of confidence that makes physiology feel manageable instead of overwhelming.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I am a scientist and researcher who specializes in designing and delivering award-winning presentations, including PowerPoint talks and research posters, for students and academic audiences at national and international conferences. My work has earned 15 awards for oral and poster presentations, including 1st Place Oral Presentation at a university research symposium and repeated 1st Place Poster Awards, reflecting a proven ability to transform complex, technical data into visually clear, compelling formats for any scientific field. I have been selected by national scientific societies for trainee awards recognizing excellence in conference-level research communication, underscoring a track record that extends across disciplines and audiences. I bring this same skill set to students and researchers alike, teaching how to build presentations and posters that don't just display data, but win.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

I bring firsthand experience writing both a master's thesis and a PhD dissertation, giving me a deep, practical understanding of the entire process from proposal to defense. I have 11 published papers in high-impact journals, including 3 as first author, so I know firsthand what strong, publication-ready scientific writing looks like. I've also guided PharmD students through writing their neuroscience research theses, helping them translate complex experimental data into clear, well-structured scientific writing, and supported PhD students from a range of departments in preparing for their qualifying written exams. Beyond writing, I can help you create polished, publication-quality figures using technical programs like BioRender, CorelDRAW, and SigmaPlot, so your data is presented to the same standard as your writing. Whether you're just starting your proposal or polishing a final draft, I can help you write with clarity, structure, and confidence.
USMLE

USMLE

I'm a PharmD and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a strong background in physiology, biochemistry, and the foundational sciences that make up USMLE Step 1. My inpatient clinical rotations in Gynecology, Nephrology, Pediatrics, and Oncology gave me a firsthand view of how physiological pathways and disease processes actually present in real patients, which helps me bridge Step 1's basic science content with the clinical reasoning it's meant to build toward. I've spent over seven years teaching at the university level, including as a Teaching Assistant in a School of Pharmacy, and I've worked with many students preparing for high-stakes standardized exams. Step 1 rewards integrated thinking over isolated memorization, so I focus on helping students connect concepts across systems, linking biochemical pathways to physiologic function, physiology to pathophysiology, and microbiology to the clinical presentations and mechanisms tested on the exam. I especially enjoy helping students work through the multi-step, "connect the dots" questions that combine several basic science disciplines at once, since that's where most students get stuck and where a little structured reasoning makes a big difference. Whether you need help building a study framework from scratch or targeting specific weak areas as your exam approaches, I tailor each session to where you actually need support.

Best tutor ever!!

I can't recommend this tutor enough for anyone struggling with Central Nervous System (CN) drugs in pharmacology! Before our sessions, I was completely overwhelmed by all the drug classifications, mechanisms of action, and side effects. This tutor broke everything down in a way that finally made sense using simple explanations, memory tricks, and real-life examples that stuck with me. What really stood out was their patience and ability to explain complex concepts multiple ways until it clicked. My grades improved significantly, and I walked into my exam feeling confident instead of anxious. If you're struggling with CN drugs or any pharmacology topic, do yourself a favor and text this tutor. It will be the best decision you make this semester!

Alaa is amazing!!!

If you're drowning in NP pharmacology, this tutor is exactly what you need! Before our sessions, I was completely overwhelmed juggling drug classes, mechanisms of action, and prescribing considerations across cardiovascular, dermatologic, and antiviral pharmacology — it all felt like a jumbled mess. This tutor changed that, breaking everything down into bite-sized, actually-makes-sense explanations using clinical reasoning frameworks and real patient case examples that stuck way better than any textbook. Their patience really sets them apart — they'll explain the same tricky concept five different ways until that lightbulb finally goes off, especially for the drug interactions and contraindications that trip everyone up. If you're struggling with NP pharmacology or gearing up for boards, stop scrolling and book a session already — future-you will thank you when you're not panic-cramming drug charts at 2am. Hands down one of the best decisions I made this semester!
