I am a marine scientist with a Ph.D. in Coastal Science and over eight years of experience working in biology, ecology, environmental science, and chemistry-related fields through research, fieldwork, and scientific data analysis. My academic background includes a B.S. in Marine Science with minors in Chemistry and Coastal Management, an M.S. in Marine Bioscience, and a Ph.D. focused on environmental physiology and ecology. Throughout graduate school and professional research positions, I worked extensively with biological and environmental datasets, scientific writing, laboratory methods, and statistical analysis using R and GIS software.

I have experience teaching and mentoring students in both formal and informal settings. During graduate school, I served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate marine ecology courses where I helped students understand ecological concepts, laboratory techniques, data interpretation, and scientific problem solving. I also mentored undergraduate research students and participated in educational outreach programs designed for K-12 teachers and younger students. These experiences helped me develop a patient and adaptable teaching style focused on building confidence and critical thinking skills.

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts rather than memorize information. I work well with middle school, high school, college, and adult learners, especially students taking biology, environmental science, ecology, earth science, or introductory chemistry courses. I enjoy helping students break down complex topics into manageable ideas and connecting scientific concepts to real-world applications and research experience.

Approved Subjects

Biology

Biology

My passion for biology began early through IB and AP Biology courses in high school, where I first became fascinated by the complexity of the natural world and living systems. That interest grew into a career path focused on marine biology, leading to a PhD in Coastal Sciences with extensive experience in ecology, physiology, environmental science, and organismal biology. Through years of scientific research, laboratory work, field studies, and science communication, I have developed a strong ability to explain biological concepts in a clear and engaging way. I enjoy helping students connect biology to real-world examples so the subject feels meaningful, understandable, and exciting. I hope to inspire younger generations to care about the living world the way I do and encourage a lifelong curiosity and appreciation for the biological systems that shape our planet.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I earned a minor in Chemistry alongside my Marine Science degree and have extensive experience applying chemistry concepts through coursework, laboratory work, and scientific research. My background includes general, organic, analytical, and environmental chemistry, with hands-on experience interpreting scientific data and solving quantitative problems. Organic chemistry became one of my favorite subjects as an undergrad at Eckerd College, where my professor nicknamed me “Toluene” so he could remember my name. Inspired by the amazing professors I learned from, I enjoy helping students understand complex chemistry concepts by connecting them to real-world examples and practical applications.
Ecology

Ecology

Ecology has been a major focus throughout both my academic and professional career. As an undergraduate studying Marine Science, I was selected to serve as a teaching assistant for an upper-level ecology course during both my sophomore and junior years, helping students understand ecological interactions, field methods, and environmental concepts. I later continued teaching ecology as a graduate student while earning my PhD in Coastal Sciences, where I led laboratory sections and guided students through hands-on ecological investigations and data interpretation. My research experience in marine and coastal ecosystems has given me a deep appreciation for how organisms interact with each other and their environment. I enjoy helping students see ecology as a dynamic, real-world science that explains the living planet around us.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

I have a Ph.D. in Coastal Science and several years of experience teaching and mentoring students in biology, environmental science, ecology, and earth science concepts. During graduate school, I worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate science courses and helped students understand scientific concepts through hands-on learning, data interpretation, and real-world examples. I have also participated in K–12 outreach programs and educational workshops designed to make science engaging and approachable for younger students. My teaching style focuses on building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and helping students understand how science connects to the natural world around them.
