Hello! My name is Lakeeta, and I am a dedicated educator with a passion for helping students build confidence and succeed in math and science.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a Master's degree in Chemistry, and I am currently a Ph.D. candidate specializing in Computational Chemistry. In addition to tutoring, I currently serve as a high school Chemistry teacher, Science Fair Coordinator, and Science Department Chair. These roles allow me to work closely with students at various academic levels while helping them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

I also spent four years instructing chemistry laboratories at Jackson State University, where I taught chemistry concepts, mathematical applications, laboratory techniques, and scientific reasoning. This experience strengthened my ability to explain complex topics in ways that are both engaging and easy to understand.

For more than six years, I have tutored students from elementary school through college in subjects including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. I have experience working with students individually, remotely, and in small-group settings.

My tutoring approach is centered on patience, encouragement, and adaptability. Every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to fit each student's learning style, academic needs, and personal goals. I enjoy connecting concepts to real-world situations, making learning more meaningful and helping students gain lasting understanding rather than simply memorizing information.

One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring is watching students grow in both confidence and achievement. Whether you need help mastering difficult concepts, preparing for an exam, improving grades, or strengthening your academic foundation, I am committed to helping you reach your goals.

I look forward to partnering with you on your journey to academic success!

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have more than six years of tutoring experience helping students strengthen their math skills and become confident problem-solvers. With a bachelor’s degree in Physics and a master’s degree in Chemistry, I have an extensive background in mathematics and regularly use algebra in both teaching and scientific problem-solving. I specialize in breaking down equations, inequalities, functions, graphing, and word problems into easy-to-understand steps. My goal is to help students understand the reasoning behind Algebra 1 concepts rather than simply memorize procedures.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I am an experienced Chemistry educator with a master’s degree in Chemistry and a bachelor’s degree in Physics. I have taught Chemistry at both the high school and college levels, including four years as a college Chemistry laboratory instructor. I have more than six years of tutoring experience and specialize in breaking down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps. I can support students with general Chemistry, AP Chemistry, laboratory concepts, problem-solving, test preparation, and building confidence in science.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored at various high schools where I taught students grade K-12 in all math and science subjects. Also, as a PhD candidate, every summer I am assigned two to three high school students where I teach a Pre-Algebra math class. I also teach them basic basic chemistry concepts that they will need to be a successful computational chemist. I have also visited multiple middle schools where I have performed exciting science experiments for the students. I am familiar with working with students 1 on 1 as well as in group sessions.
Geometry

Geometry

I have more than six years of tutoring experience and a strong mathematics background through my bachelor’s degree in Physics and master’s degree in Chemistry. My academic and teaching experience allows me to help students understand geometry through logical reasoning, visualization, and step-by-step problem-solving. I can assist with angles, triangles, similarity, congruence, circles, coordinate geometry, area, volume, and proofs. I focus on making challenging concepts easier to understand while helping students build confidence and stronger mathematical reasoning skills.
Physics

Physics

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Physics and have more than six years of tutoring experience helping students succeed in math and science. My strong background in physics, chemistry, and mathematics allows me to help students understand both the concepts and calculations behind challenging physics problems. I specialize in topics such as motion, forces, energy, momentum, waves, and basic electricity. I focus on breaking complex problems into clear, step-by-step explanations that build students’ confidence and problem-solving skills.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have more than six years of tutoring experience helping students build strong foundations in mathematics. With a bachelor’s degree in Physics and a master’s degree in Chemistry, I use mathematics extensively in both teaching and scientific problem-solving. I help students master fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, equations, integers, exponents, and other essential prealgebra skills. My approach focuses on clear, step-by-step instruction that prepares students for success in Algebra and higher-level math courses.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have more than six years of tutoring experience and a strong mathematics background through my bachelor’s degree in Physics and master’s degree in Chemistry. I regularly apply trigonometry in physics, chemistry, and scientific problem-solving and can help students understand concepts such as trigonometric functions, identities, the unit circle, and solving triangles. I specialize in breaking complex problems into clear, manageable steps and helping students understand why each method works. My goal is to strengthen students’ problem-solving skills and build confidence in both trigonometry and higher-level mathematics.
