Bio

I have been a teacher for thirteen years, and in that time I have taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I have taught mostly reading, but have taught math, too. I am on here to help students who are struggling in class. I know how challenging it can be to help each student get the information that they need with a room full of other students, so I look forward to working with you on an individual basis.

I have tutored 3rd-4th grade students in math and reading for the past year in my school's after school program. In my tutoring style, I use Common Core style questions and strategies to ensure that my students get the help that they need.

When I was in college, I was on an international debate team and we competed in Model UN, Model Arab League and Model NATO. During this time, my school continuously won outstanding awards. Since leaving college I have led a debate club at my school where I have worked with the students on their public speaking skills.

I have been teaching reading and writing the last 8 years. I teach middle school, but have worked with k-6 grade in reading and writing through tutoring and small group instruction. I am one of the leaders in my school with reading test data, as well.

I am an English teacher for sixth graders, and one of the things that I focus on is helping my students with study skills when it comes to taking tests. I teach my students the UNWRAP strategy.

I have been teaching writing to middle school students for the last eight years. My students score higher than the district average on their state writing test, as well. Furthermore, when I got my masters a few years ago, I scored high scores on my assignments, which were all writing assignments.
